Ste. Michelle promotes McKee to red winemaker

Chateau Ste. Michelle announced today that it is promoting Raymon McKee to red winemaker.

McKee, who has been a winemaker for 17 years at such wineries as Heaven's Cave, Covey Run and Claar Cellars, has worked for Washington's oldest winery for the past three years. He will oversee red wine production at Ste. Michelle's Canoe Ridge Estate facility west of Paterson in the Horse Heaven Hills. He will report to Bob Bertheau, head winemaker, who is based in at company headquarters in Woodinville.

"Raymon brings a wealth of winemaking experience to the position," Bertheau said. "His passion for the winery and his deep Washington roots make him a great fit for this position. We look forward to his impact on our wines in the years to come."

McKee succeeds Josh Maloney, who left Ste. Michelle for Wahluke Wine Co. after a five-year tenure.
