ROSEBURG, Ore. — I only see it forecast by Accuweather so far, but they are calling for a huge storm next weekend, with rain in the 3-to 5-inch range for most of Oregon.

If that happens, the Willamette is dead. The grapes aren't ready yet. It'll be a damn-near total wipeout.

Not that Southern Oregon is out of the woods either.

We have frost and freeze warnings through Monday, so it's now a mad scramble for everyone to pick at the same time in front of the storm.

Throw in the worst bird problem since 2004, and it will be a fun week.

Editor's note: This is the latest in a series of dispatches filed by Pat Spangler of Spangler Vineyards.
