WSU viticulture event raises more than $180,000
By Ingrid Stegemoeller, Wine Press Northwest
A dinner and auction to raise money for Washington State Universitys Viticulture and Enology Program brought in more than $180,000 in auction proceeds, ticket sales, sponsorships and donations.
A Celebration of Washington Wines was held at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville at the end of January.
It was the eighth year of the event, which has now brought in more than $1 million for the program.
About $40,000 of the proceeds came from restaurant sales of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates wines. More than 120 restaurants statewide participated in the 2008 promotion that dedicated part of wine sales to the program.
